Get ready to change all of your clocks forward into daylight saving time –- the bittersweet switch that signals spring but delivers a blow to your sleep.

Starting Sunday morning, you’ll be up an hour earlier, thanks to Daylight Saving Time. For those of you who don’t remember, that’s the brilliant plan hatched by officials in World War I to save coal used for heat and light by having people start their days closer to sunrise and go to bed earlier.

The idea of losing an hour of sleep may sound awful but the change could do you some good. Experts say the time change will give us an extra hour of sunlight. This could make you feel a little happier, and renew connections with the outside world.

"I think we're going to ultimately have more energy," said Dr. Scott Bea with the Cleveland Clinic. "We can resume the things we like to do, we can get out and walk and run and visit our neighbors and have a backyard BBQ."

You can help your body adjust to losing an hour of sleep. Just go to bed a little earlier Friday and Saturday nights.
